Netbook Gaming - Is It Possible?

As I was in the netbook game? It's a good question - netbook is far from anyone's gaming platform of choice. I bought my netbook about 18 months ago to use as a work computer, and it has performed its duties admirably. However, as a lifelong game, I found myself unable to resist the temptation to install a few games to while away the hours spent on trains, in hotel conference rooms, and so on.

Armed with 2 GB of RAM, external DVD drive and my collection of old games, I set out to examine the possibilities of my netbook. To my delight, many of my old favorites worked perfectly, including classics such as Neverwinter Nights, Age of Empires 2, and black and white. It certainly is not the smoothest gaming experience you will ever have, but with all the images set to minimum, no addons, and to avoid populated areas, can achieve a stunning 10-15 fps. Granted, it's not perfect, but better than expected. I probably should mention that after I upgraded to 2GB of RAM - I think it's difficult to 1GB is asking for trouble
